Homebound is a Medicare rule for home health agencies, not for a provider coming to the house. Your parent does not have to be homebound to be seen at home.

A nurse practitioner examines your parent, goes through their conditions and medications, answers your questions, and writes prescriptions or orders tests as needed.

You can be there, or on the phone. Nothing about the visit requires you to take the day off.

You also do not need to be your parent's legal decision maker to ask questions and get things started. If you would rather not phone, the referral portal takes referrals from families, patients and healthcare professionals alike, and asks who you are as you go.

If you have paperwork from a hospital or a home health agency, you can attach it in the portal as a PDF or a photo from your phone. You do not need to have it to get started.

Call and we will tell you the soonest we can get to your parent. It depends on where they live and what is going on with them, so we would rather give you a straight answer on the phone than a promise on a web page.

Examination, ongoing management of chronic conditions, medication review and prescriptions.

We also order mobile blood work, X-ray, ultrasound and EKG that come to the house, then review the results and decide what they mean for your parent's care. Electronic visits are available when a question does not need someone at the door.

We are not an emergency service. If something is an emergency, call 911.

We do not perform the imaging and lab work ourselves. We order it and review it. We are primary care, so specialist care and hospital procedures stay with those providers.
